Emmy Award winner Guy Pearce gives action hero a go in the new prison-in-space movie Lockout, which opens this weekend.
Despite his heavy Australian accent, Pearce, 44, is British, though he has spent most of his life Down Under. It’s there, of course, where he got his first big break by wearing a dress and traveling in a rather colorful bus across the Outback.
Ever since, Pearce has gone from being a good actor to a truly terrific one, appearing in great stuff like LA Confidential, Memento, and, most recently, HBO’s Mildred Pierce, for which he won that Emmy.
Pearce looks different in every role, a chameleon-like approach to acting that has won him critical praise but relative anonymity. But there’s quite a handsome man hidden somewhere under there, as you can piece together below if you set aside the sometimes-scary hair. This dude, though, has always had a ripped but lean muscled frame, which, in his mid-forties, makes him one of the few guys who can now start an action hero career.
The odds may be against him. Let’s give him a boost, though, by making him HOTT Man #117.
