Well gents, we’ve made it through the year that sucked in so many ways and yet was the year I finally felt like I came into my own as a porn director and blogger and all around fun guy to have at your party (especially when I bring gift bags). I probably wouldn’t have made it the way I did without you guys here at GDH so thanks SO much for all your support, encouragement, positive and negative comments. So thanks.
Here’s a list of my favorite scenes I directed this year… hope you like these as much as I do…
Arpad Miklos “Straight For Pay” at SG4GE.
To be fair, it’s not really a “for pay” scene in the same way as “gay for pay” scenes. Arpad is an established star who could write his own ticket anywhere. But he’d never done a straight scene ever and wanted to do one in his career just to show he could. He did an amazing job and I loved every second of working with him although it was maybe the third or fourth straight scene I’d ever done and I was still having trouble looking directly as vaginas. I know, I’m such a wuss.

Reboot with Tristan Baldwin and Brent Biscayne.
Tristan and I get along great and we were laughing so much that day that it’s no wonder the scene ended up so silly. Both Tristan and Brent had their characters nailed… they both kept tossing out funny ad libbed lines and Brent’s first-ever bottoming went without a problem. Didn’t hurt that Tristan had pretty much become “the” non-esclusive porn star of the year when this scene was released. See my post about it here.
The Gay Coach 2.
Another one where we just laughed our heads off while shooting. The premise is kind of silly but Bo’s body was ripped and sweaty and Tucker is such a die hard power bottom that there was just no way this scene wouldn’t be a winner. My idea of getting them fucking on an exercise ball I think just adds to the playfulness of the scene. See my post about it here.
Geared Up.
About 10 minutes after we finished shooting, I called Jake to tell him “I think I just shot the scene that’s going to break Cocksure Men open.” I wasn’t wrong. Geared Up was the scene where I think we finally got recognition right across the blogosphere as a serious porn site to be taken seriously. Funny thing was that this was a scene that was so unplanned that I’m amazed it happened at all. Leo could only come down on weekends so I shot the whole thing myself with one camera in my hand and another stationary on a tripod.
Leo was really turned on by the motorcycle gear that both Bo and I had on (we’re both riders and had both arrived on our bikes). Since it was his first scene ever, we decided to just put on some gear and play around for a bit. The resulting pictures were what eventually became my project-in-the-works, Erawtika.
We had enough fun doing that so we just worked the motorcycle gear into the beginning of the scene and then just let things go from there. Even though there’s a few problems with audio (the boom mic didn’t record so it’s all internal condenser mic) and a few lighting problems, the whole thing is magic. Bo fucked the snot out of Leo and Leo begged for more.
The most magic thing, though, was how flexible Leo’s body was. I was able to get the guys into some amazing positions that most guys could never get into and still make it look believable. I’m still giddy when I watch this scene. And I’m not giddy very often. See my post about it here.
Wrestle To Fuck
This was my homage to the 50s Physique magazines I used to see growing up… all the Tom of Finland porn… all that homoerotica art that managed to stay just within the censor lines. Brenden and Tyler are both older guys and had perfect looks for it. I got them matching white boxer briefs and told them to trash-talk each other a lot.
I’ll be honest.. this scene was one of the hardest scenes to shoot I’ve ever done. Getting the guys to stay in character was hard, getting the guys to wrestle convincingly was harder… both had injuries that kept them from any “real” wrestling. Jake was out of town with one of our cameras so I had to do the whole thing with one camera which meant changing position about 50 times. But the end effect is great and the final cumshot with Brenden blowing his load right into Tyler’s mouth is the thing that porn is made for.

Bareback Rednecks.
My homage to 70s and early 80s porn. Shot in a beat up pickup truck belonging to Tex Gemmell, I used a very shallow focus and white balanced on the blue side to emulate the 8mm film used in those days. It had to be a bareback scene if it was going to really be “in period” and luckily both guys preferred that (we do full AIM testing). The final touch for me was that I told them to call each other “buddy” for the whole thing. I got that from an old Catalina movie I saw from 1981. See my post about it here.
Tickle Torture Teabaggers
A scene that happened by accident. It hardly ever rains in Sun Valley where the Jake Cruise Ranch is located so the ground gets very dusty. Which means when Jeremy Bilding and Kelly Taylor walked across the floor to the lounger where they were to do their scene they got dirty feet. Which mean that I had to haul out the baby wipes to clean their feet.
Which is when I found out they’re both OUTRAGEOUSLY TICKLISH. And I just couldn’t resist fucking with them. So the scene then became an impromptu tickling scene that both guys loved and hated.
This is also the scene where Kelly Taylor earned his wings cumming while getting fucked and not even touching himself. Seriously, this was such a great scene that I still go back and watch it just for fun.
Bo Dean Sunbathing
When I got the chance to direct a second Bo Dean solo scene, this was my tribute to John’s style… lots of different angles, very fly-on-the-wall, more about physique and less about just showing the goods. I don’t know if he ever saw it but if he did, I hope he realized just how much I learned from him.
