I seldom get into politics here. But Meh… Bill Maher is a genius and he’s funny and most of all, he’s so bang-on with this that it deserves to get posted in as many places as possible.

No way would I watch anything he has to say. He promotes hate and no matter what you believe no one should support someone who promotes hate all the time.

      Don’t be silly.

You can’t turn a blinds eye to hate and then say the other side is doing all the hating. Maher is a hateful person, has been and always will be. Those with blinders on can’t see the obvious. But let the other side say something like they don’t believe in the gay lifestyle and they are labeled as a hateful person. Maher has said some of the most hateful things especially about women. I don’t like hate no matter who it comes from or what side of the line you stand on. You hate on anyone then you deserve no respect of any kind.

          hateful things like what?

          • GMan May 9, 2012 at 6:57 pm

If I have to go through the countless examples of the crap he has said about women in general then you have made my point. You can’t just listen to what you agree with and ignore comments that many would consider hateful. At that point you are no better than those that hate on gays. And when it comes to Maher if any women is not of his thinking about world views then he calls them everything under the sun along with attacking their children as well. Kids of any side of the line should be off limits but when you turn your ears off to those comments but pay attention to comments that are of your own beliefs then he becomes a great man ( or in your words a genius).

If you want to stop hate of any kind then you have to stop promoting any type of it as well much less supporting someone who pushes it every day. That goes for people that have a lot of your own personal views of life. If they are using hate to push their agenda of any kind then that is totally wrong. We can all disagree on issue of all types but when a person starts using hateful words to make their point then as I have stated before they don’t deserve any type of respect. And anyone that promotes hate of any kind really should never point out what others hate on because that is just hypocritical at best. You can’t have it both ways.

Well I can’t just take “he’s said hateful things about women, I can’t be arsed to look it up” as an answer. If you’re going to make an accusation like that, you have to be able to back it up with something.

What he says about religious tax-breaks is true, and he should say something about the tax breaks for so-called non-profits that are working to buy the next election. Actually, if he really wants to go after sweetheart tax deals with huge castles, pro sports does a lot better than the symphony!

You just lost a reader Jasun :(. Bill Maher is far form a genius and he really doesn’t know what he’s talking about on this issue. Instead he makes sweeping generalizations about the actions of an organization that does a lot more good than what he mentions here. He really, really has no idea what he’s talking about. I’m really disappointed that you posted this Jasun.

Your choice. But I agree with him 100% in this video. Like I say, I don’t get into politics here, I usually leave that for Facebook. But I’m done being nice on this issue. And he’s bang-on. when you take tax-free “charity donations” and use it to either build yourself a castle or funnel it into a political campaign, you’re not a real charity.
