Beach weather is upon us and that means that we actually have an excuse to unplug from the net, grab some paper-based reading material and lay in the sun. Vitamin D is good for you and so is being in the presence of hot young men playing volleyball.
Here’s my reading suggestions…
A few months back it became news that Top Chef contestant Ty-Lor Boring had shown his irresistible naked body in the pages of a little-known gay skin magazine’s first issue. That magazine was Headmaster and unlike the glossy, high-concept spank rags that had all gone tits up when the internet started offering video, it was gritty, raunchy and home-made. Filled with very non-digital and un-polished photos, Headmaster brings back early gay skin mags and throws in a return to an analogue style. I love it.
Issue 3 features some recognizable gay porn stars like Kennedy Carter, Steve Cruz and Bruno Bond plus Peter Cochrane, Alan Cumming and Chris Ironside. It’s a great read for the beach and something you’ll want to hang on to forever. And I need a new issue #1. the pages of my copy are… kinda stuck together in one place.
Book 6 in Neil Plackey’s Mahu series (book 7 if you count the collection of short stories “Mahu Men” that fill in gaps between books), Mahu Zero break continues the story of Kimo, the gay detective from Honolulu. Now… if you haven’t read any of Neil’s books, don’t start with this one… Start with book 1, Mahu. Get Kimo’s story from the beginning when he is forced to out himself to the police and the public when he witnesses a murder at a Honolulu gay bar.
But if you’ve read the other books… there’s a new one. And one of the best gay book series continues.
(and yes, there are eBook versions of all the Mahu books so you can read it on your iPad, Kindle or Nook…. does anyone actually have a nook?)

I have an original Nook. I love it & I really recommend it! I’m thinking of getting a Nook Tablet or Color next.
When I was looking into Nook/Kindle the decision to go with Nook came down to the fact that the memory was expandable. I have an 8 GB micro SD card in & have less than a quarter of it filled & I have thousands of books on it. B&N on Friday offers a free book download as well, I have found some good books through this. Plus they have all the classics in a Classics line that are free, there’s Dracula, Little Women etc.
Sorry this sounds like a commercial, I didn’t mean for it to sound like one lol!
