Oscar-nominated Jeremy Renner’s career continues its rightful ascent despite those pesky gay rumors that just won’t go away. Before getting an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for The Hurt Locker in 2009, Jeremy Renner was most famous for playing serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in Dahmer, a creepy but nicely done movie from 2002. Since Hurt Locker, of course, his career has taken off, including roles as an all-too realistic hood from Boston’s Charlestown neighborhood in The Town to recent turn with Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Later this year, he replaces Matt Damon as the star of the Bourne movies series in The Bourne Legacy. You’ll also see him in a little movie called The Avengers on July 3.
So what of the gay rumors? There have been plenty of stories, particularly one in the National Enquirer (as reported here by Perez Hilton), which despite its reputation generally gets these stories right. What we do know is that Renner lives with a guy–actor Kristoffer Winters–and that the two have owned many houses together. The Enquirer of course, has a quote from his former acting teacher about how his being gay is an open secret in Hollywood.
Does it matter? Yes and no. It is his private business, after all. But if he’s attempting to hide it or be coy about it to preserve or enhance his career as a macho action star, isn’t that something worth reporting? I’ll let you guys debate it in the comments.
Meanwhile, he’s a terrific actor with quirky good looks, a combo that certainly qualifies as HOTT.

In my opinion, the whole “private business” thing is just a bullshit excuse the closeted use to justify their cowardice. With a few rare exceptions, straight people never respond with “that’s my private business” when asked about their significant others. Even stars who are known to be very private, like Harrison Ford for example, will show up on the red carpet with their loved ones in tow.
I remember him in a little show on Bravo called “The It Factor: Los Angeles.” There’s one episode where he’s mulling over a decision to audition for S.W.A.T. which was a bomb. I remember seeing him when “The Hurt Locker” won, and thinking, hey wait isn’t it that pretentious guy from that pretentious show on Bravo.
