I’ve been called many things in my life but “Saviour” and “guardian angel” hasn’t been on that list until yesterday. My neighbour Ox and I went out to check out the local tattoo shop. I’m looking around for a guy to do the next tattoo I’m planning on getting that I showed you a while back (it was designed, by the way by Jake Cruise video editor Jason – with an “o” – who’s also a very accomplished artist) and Steven was looking to get a new nose ring.
We checked out Velvet Grip in West Hollywood and took a look at David Hatton’s work. David was showing me through his book of stuff. I love his use of color and shading and his very liquid style and (not that it should matter but we all know it does), he ain’t too hard to look at either. I asked him if he had any more stuff to check out and he looked dejected and told me that he’d recently lost 1500 images when his photocard had crashed.
Being the tech dweeb that I am I said “you have the card here?”
“yeah,” he answered, ” but it’s fried. I even called the company and they said there’s nothing they can do. I’m not even sure why I’m hanging onto it.”
“Lemme see it,” I said.
8 minutes later, I had recovered all 1500+ pictures and was hugging a very happy and grateful straight metal head. To thank me, David got Mike (the equally hot piercer) to do my labret for me so I now have a slightly swollen lower lip.

And the moral, children, is ALWAYS BACK UP.
Good on you for getting it back though.
Wow! Thanks for sharing. So, did it hurt as much as it looked? Where does the end on the inside of your lip sit? Does it hit your gumline or your teeth?
just a sharp pinch for a couple of seconds and then a bit awkward for a few seconds after that. Now it’s just a bit swollen and a bit tender but it doesn’t hurt. It’ll calm down in a week or so. Letting the inside touch your teeth and gumline can really damage your gums so you need to keep them lower. I’ll switch out the ball in about 2 months for a spike.
